At
his prime, Eminem was the biggest thing in music, period. His
contribution to hip hop and mainstream music in the early-to-mid 00s
will never be forgotten by those of us who were lucky enough to live
through it and when he was at his best, everyone wanted to work with
him. Well, almost everyone. It seems unfathomable that someone would
turn down Eminem for a guest verse but that’s exactly what happened when
Black Sabbath rockstar, Tommy Iommi turned down a collaboration request
from the Rap God because he didn’t know who Marshal Mathers was!
Here’s how Complex recounts the incident: “As Iommi was gathering
artists for the collab-heavy release, a request from one Marshall
Mathers found its way into the mix. Iommi, however, turned down the
collab request because—according to Loudwire—he was "wholly unaware" of
Eminem's work at the time. Bummer.”Ouch...However, with the undisputed
success that was to follow in Eminem’s life, it’s safe to say that the
rockstar might have changed his mind if another offer came later down
the line.
